eorge S Parker, the founder of the Parker Pen Company in 1888 (same year Umeå burnt down) did in 1894 invent an ink feed that in a way was to revolutionize the pen industry. All companies at this time had the problem that their pens, when not in use, kept some of the surplus ink in the ink-channels. Ink that, when the pen whas re-used, started its business with a fat blob. Parker solved this problem with an ink feed that was curved and touched the inside of the pen. This made the surplus ink with capillary force to withdraw back into the pen. The feed, redesigned in 1898, withstood the years and was fitted to Parker pens until 1929.

he Lucky Curve pens are by all accounts the most sought for by Parker collectors: They were made initially in hard rubber and exist in 400 different designs. Some of the most beautiful pens ever made were manufactured by the Parker company during the first fifteen years of this century. Most collectors only dreaming about one time finding that Snake-, Aztek or Pregnant-designed pen.
